Offkai charges a flat $0.35 service fee per paid Stripe ticket — not a percentage. If a host opts out of Stripe and collects payment via Venmo, Zelle, cash, or another method they set up, Offkai charges no platform fee at all. Here's how the Stripe pricing compares to the most popular alternatives.
Fee structure
| Platform | Service fee | Card processing | Free events |
|---|---|---|---|
| Offkai (Stripe) | $0.35 flat | ~2.9% + $0.30† | Free |
| Offkai (non-Stripe) | $0 | none (host collects directly) | Free |
| TicketSpice | $0.99 flat | ~2.9% + $0.30 | Free |
| RSVPify | 1.95% + $0.90 | ~2.9% + $0.30 | Free |
| Luma (free plan) | 5% | ~2.9% + $0.30 | Free |
| Luma Plus | $0 | ~2.9% + $0.30 | $69/month |
| Eventbrite (Flex) | 3.7% + $1.79 | ~2.9% + $0.30 | Free |
| Partiful | Not published | Not published | Free |
† Card processing rate varies by country; 2.9% + $0.30 applies to US cards.
What attendees pay (USD, pass-through mode)
When the host passes fees to attendees, here's what a US card payment looks like:
| Ticket price | Offkai (Stripe) | Offkai (non-Stripe) | TicketSpice | Luma (free) | RSVPify | Eventbrite (Flex) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $5 | $5.82 | $5.00 | ~$6.48 | ~$5.71 | ~$6.49 | ~$7.49 |
| $10 | $10.97 | $10.00 | ~$11.63 | ~$11.12 | ~$11.73 | ~$12.83 |
| $20 | $21.27 | $20.00 | ~$21.92 | ~$21.93 | ~$22.24 | ~$23.51 |
| $50 | $52.17 | $50.00 | ~$52.82 | ~$54.38 | ~$53.73 | ~$55.55 |
| $100 | $103.66 | $100.00 | ~$104.31 | ~$108.44 | ~$106.23 | ~$108.95 |
Offkai (Stripe) figures use the exact fee engine shown at checkout. Offkai (non-Stripe) attendees pay the ticket price exactly — no platform fee, no card processing. All other figures are estimates based on published fee schedules; exact amounts vary with card type and region.
Why the totals don't equal ticket + platform fee + 2.9% × ticket: Card processing is charged on the full amount collected — ticket price and platform fee combined. On a $20 Offkai ticket: $20 + $0.35 platform fee = $20.35, then 2.9% is applied to the grand total plus $0.30. The result is $21.27, not $21.24. All platforms listed work the same way.
Why a flat fee saves more on higher-priced tickets
A percentage fee grows with your ticket price. Offkai's $0.35 stays fixed — so the higher your ticket, the smaller Offkai's share. On a $100 ticket Offkai's platform cut is just 0.35%, vs. roughly 5–8% on other platforms.
Note: for very low ticket prices (under ~$7), a 5% fee is smaller than a flat $0.35 — which is why Luma's free plan is marginally cheaper at $5. Above that threshold Offkai wins on every row.
Non-card methods have no Offkai fee
Hosts can also accept Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, Wise, cash, or other payment methods. These carry no Offkai service fee at all — attendees pay exactly the ticket price. Eventbrite, Luma, TicketSpice, and RSVPify don't support off-platform payment collection.
Hosts choose who pays the fees
In pass-through mode (the default), fees appear as a checkout line item and the host receives the full ticket amount. In absorb mode, fees are deducted from the host's payout instead. The total fee is the same either way.
Running a group buy vs. a resale marketplace
Organizing a group buy — collecting orders for merch, doujinshi, or imports and shipping them out? Offkai's flat $0.35 per paid order undercuts the percentage selling fees the big resale marketplaces charge:
| Platform | Selling fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Offkai | $0.35 flat per order | No percentage cut; card processing ~2.9% + $0.30, pass-through or absorbed |
| eBay | ~13.25% of item + shipping, + $0.30/order | Final value fee; varies by category |
| Mercari | ~10% seller fee | US moved to buyer-paid fees in 2024; Japan still charges sellers ~10% |
| Facebook Marketplace | 5% per shipment (or $0.40 flat under $8) | Free for local pickup — same as an Offkai pickup order |
On a $40 group-buy order, eBay's ~13.25% takes about $5.60 and Mercari's ~10% about $4.00 — Offkai's cut stays $0.35. Because Offkai's platform fee never scales with the order size, the more you collect per order, the wider the gap.
